Hello, everyone! Welcome to Spirit of a Spright!

For anyone who doesn’t know what a “spright” is (nor gets a hint from “I am that merry wanderer of the night.“), it is an alternative term of “sprite” (no, not the soft drink!) with which I’m making a reference to Puck from William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream was my first encounter with Shakespeare’s works, and when I first read through it, Puck’s character struck a chord in me. He is that lively and mischievous spirit I always could feel hidden inside me, he is “that merry wanderer of the night”; well, when I work hard in the day, night-time is the time for me to be lost in being my lively self, which coincidentally also involves quite a bit of literal wandering around Singapore.

I decided to start this blog when I realised my ever-inquisitive mind and active lifestyle needed an outlet to track, review and share what I experience and learn. Such a waste to go through interesting events and just let it pass without mention, isn’t it? Or to know of an absorbing piece of information yet not pass it on? Or to discover something about myself, yet not note it down, if not just to reminisce?

It is a new year now, and I hope to start afresh. I’ve never been good at journaling but this blog is part of my 2013 new year resolution. So wish me luck, and let me know if you’re keeping up with my posts so that I’d be encouraged to keep posting!

“If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumbered here
While these visions did appear…”
